2020 was not the year we expected it to be. Connections were lost. People struggled and people survived. Through the survival and the growth, we saw where we were weak and where we are strong.
In response to the ongoing pandemic, the Manufacturing and Sterilization for COVID-19 (MASC) Initiative was launched at Penn State in March 2020. With more than 350 researchers and counting contributing their expertise, the initiative is focused on designing and delivering rapidly scalable solutions and generating tangible impact, particularly within the commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

During this time, my personal contribution was to 1) set up a rapid prototyping and sterilization station in Dr. Hickner’s garage, 2) procure raw materials for other makers to manufacture masks and 3) work with designers at PSU to iterate on the final open source design
